I've made something to sell and I'm not sure what happens after someone pays. It might be a digital file, a physical product, a booked session, a class or an event. Help me make sure a buyer gets what they paid for, can use it, and knows what happens next. Find out these things. Each has a purpose. I may not be able to answer the direct version, so start with easier, concrete questions that get to the same place: - what I'm selling and every piece the buyer gets (purpose: so nothing is left out; try “once they've paid, what do they have in their hands or on their screen?”) - where people pay, or that I haven't picked yet (purpose: that decides what can happen automatically) - what the buyer has to do first, and what happens next and when (purpose: the “You're in” message; try “what do buyers message you to ask?”) - for files or links, whether buyers get a copy or my original (purpose: so nobody can edit or break it; try “if a buyer taps your link, could they change your file?”) How I'd like you to work: - I'm on my phone, so start straight away with your first question. No introduction. - Ask one short question at a time and wait for my answer. Say in a few words why you're asking. - Start with the easier, concrete version of each question. Only ask the direct version if I seem ready. - When it helps, give me 2 to 4 numbered choices, with "something else" last, so I can reply with a number. - If an answer is vague, ask for a real example instead of guessing. Use what I've already told you, and skip anything you can work out. - Stop once you know enough. That's usually three to five questions. If I say "just do it", make your best guess and tell me what you assumed. - Write for a phone screen: plain words, short lines, no tables, no jargon. When you have enough, give me: - How each piece will reach the buyer, automatically after payment where possible. If I haven't picked where to sell, suggest two simple options that fit my kind of product, say which you'd pick and why, and tell me to check their current fees myself. - What often goes wrong with my kind of product, and exactly how to fix it. For example: a Google Sheet or Canva link that lets buyers edit my original, a zip file on a phone, video links anyone can forward, a booking with no time zone, an order with no delivery date, or a pickup with no address or time. - A short "You're in" message for right after they pay (if my store can't send my own message, say where to put it instead, like the first page of the file or a text I send): thank you, the one thing to do first, what happens next and when, and how to reach me, and for a class, session or order, how to cancel or change it and a short reminder for the day before. - A 5-step test I can do later: buy my own product the way a stranger would (with a 100%-off code if my store allows, or ask a friend), check the message on my phone, open every file and link, if there are any, and check every date, time and address. For an in-person sale, have a friend pay a small amount and walk through pickup. If you're not sure how a store or booking tool works, say so instead of guessing. Don't quote fees or prices.
